Simply Less is More # 113

Happy Easter Everyone.

I hope you`re enjoying the long weekend and not eating too much chocolate hee hee.
As march has 5 saturdays we have a lucky dip week at Simply Less is More and this time we are asked to use SCALLOPS on our creations.
This should have been a walk in the park really but I had trouble coming up with something out of the ordinary. See what you think,

My first card is pretty standard really. I started off well enough but lost the plot when it came to the sentiment.
Dp is Crafty Impressions Romanza. The upper panel is cut using a Spellbinders Scallop die and then run through with a Crafts Too EF.
I didn`t have any ribbon in the right shade of pink so I`ve coloured some white with a Promarker.
The sentiment is by Flourishes, cut out with a nestie Labels 4 die.
I was asked to make a card during the week using something I haven`t got so I had to make a trip to Hobbycraft and pick up a decoupage sheet. This prompted me to rake out all the old decoupage that I`ve been hoarding for years and not using. I thought I might as well put some to good use and make a card with it.
I`ve used a pale peach card base and made a panel with white card which I`ve punched along the long edge with a MS Doily punch.
The sentiment is by Flourishes and the decoupage is from a book by TBZ.
It`s a bit twee but I`m sure someone, somewhere likes twee :-)

Ruby is quite poorly at the moment. She had her penultimate dose of Chemo the week before last and seemed to be doing really well but then developed a temperature which was up and down for a few days. Yesterday Mum noticed some fluid from her ear and she had a high temp so it was off to the the local hospital for tests.
Ruby`s white blood cells are extremely low which means she cannot fight the infection on her own, so she`s had a blood transfusion. This isn`t out of the ordinary as the chemo knocks her bloods down anyway but with a severe ear infection too it has made her poorly this time. She`s on 2 lots of IV antibiotics and will be in hospital for about 5 days.
This morning Ruby insisted on getting out of bed to play as she wasn`t poorly enough for bed but after about 10 minutes admitted defeat and went back to bed. She is one tough cookie and I know she`ll pull through this. Just one more bout of chemo in a couple of weeks and that should be it ( fingers crossed).

Cupcakes

Hi All! I hope you are all well and looking forward to the Easter break.

A really quick post from me today to share a card I made for Alan to give to a lady at work. This lady makes and decorates cakes so I was asked to do something along those lines. I can safely post this now as it was given to her this morning.

DP is a Papermania Stack by Lucy Cromwell which luckily has some gorgeous cupcakes on it.
Stamp is also by Papermania coloured with Promarkers and a little bit of Glamour dust. I`ve added some Glossy Accents to the cherry.
The doily seemed quite fitting too. I`ve added a bow and a tag stamped with a Paula Pascual sentiment.

Another man card...

...but a bit different this time.

Morning all. I`m on a bit of a roll this week aren`t I ?
I have another man card to share but this time I`ve gone cute.

I think I`m pretty safe in thinking that this little Hedgie is genderless ( without being too personal) and that, although we mostly make feminine cards with him/her, it`s ok to use him/her for a man card.
I`m sure you get my drift.
I think he looks fab all in blue for a change and perfectly relaxed.
This is another card from Cheryls friends order and another quick and easy card to make.
Papers from Papermania Capsule Collection.
Sky Blue card from Papermill Direct.
Stamp by Penny Black
Sentiment PC generated
Spellbinders Nested circles and Lacey Circles

Man card

Good Morning All.

When Cheryls friend asked me to make some cards for family members, there were two or three man cards among the order. As you all know I`m not very good at man cards but I really need to get into the swing with them and make some for the fundraising box too.
This one is nice and simple and can be done again and again in different colour ways.

Burgundy card base with Papermania Silent Night ( Christmas paper)  matted onto it.
The Alphabet (Die-namics) and stars ( X Cut) are in old gold card and I`ve crimped the stars.
Sentiment is Anita`s stamped and embossed in detail gold EP.

A bit on the shabby side..

Good morning all.

I don`t seem to have posted much just lately but I have been busy making. I have a few cards waiting in the wings so I thought I`d better get on with sharing them before I forget.
It was my work colleague, Billie`s birthday a couple of weeks ago so I made her this card.
Actually it`s very similar in design to the one I made for her last year but I didn`t realise until I photographed it.
I put it down to my age y`know lol.

Anyway, it`s made from the Papermania Blueberry Hill snippets I had out on my desk already and the roses from Wild Orchid  were a lovely match.
The sentiment is computer generated so I could personalise it and the frame around it is Waltzing Mouse Vintage Labels, cut out with a Labels 4 nestie.
The lace is from my stash.
As it`s a snippet card, I entering it into Pixies crafty snippets wk 65.

Simply Less is More # 112

Good afternoon all. I hope, where ever you are, that you are managing to stay warm. We had snow and high winds yesterday but nowhere near as bad as other parts of the country. It was flipping freezing though, believe me.

The challenge for this week at Simply Less is More is to use Beads on our cards.
By heck, Chrissie and Jen do know how to challenge us. I do have beads. Not many, but some. I don`t know why I have beads `cos I never use them but it`s a good job I have some or I would have been stumped.
Mind you, knowing what to do with said beads is stumping, apart from stringing them and putting them round my neck. After much thought and a little frustration, I came up with this.

I stamped my Stampman Lace in clear embossing ink and embossed it in white EP then inked it up with Versacolor Mint green.
I cut it to size and using some very thin white ribbon I threaded the beads and attached it to the panel.
The beads are an odd shape, I don`t know how to describe them but they have a slight Mother of Pearl effect and are quite pretty.
Sentiment is by Flourishes.

I was chuffed to bits to be Showcased again last week. Thank you once again Chrissie and Jen.

Less is More # 111

Good Afternoon All!

I`ve got a really busy day today so this will have to be short and sweet I`m afraid. I do have time to welcome my new follower Sue though. Welcome to my little blog Sue.

The theme for this weeks Simply Less is More challenge is to  FRAME IT.
Right up my street as this is the style I use most often lately.

As spring will soon be here ( hopefully) I thought I`d use this stamp and some lovely fresh colours.
I bought the stamp at a craft fair earlier this year but there`s no name on it, sorry. Coloured with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir pens. The sentiment is by TSG.

I already had this stamp, from Papermania, out for a commisioned card so thought it would look good in a frame too. I`ve lightly chalked the background in a very pale green before colouring the image with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir Pens. I`ve added some Glamour Dust to the image and some Glossy  Accents to the cherry.
The sentiment is a mix of Waltzing Mouse and Layers of Color.

This is a card I made last night for someone at Alan`s work and then realised that it was a frame of sorts so I`m adding it to the challenge.
The stamp is by Funstamps and I`ve had it forever, coloured with markers.
I used cream card this time and made a panel which I embossed with a woodgrain pattern using a Crafts Concepts EF.
I cut the image out and placed it using foam pads, the sentiment is again from TSG.

I CASED Kim

Good Evening all!

Brr it`s extremely cold in the UK at the moment with blizzarding snow and freezing winds. Last week I thought spring was on it`s way but we have been dragged back into winter and I really don`t like it.
Anyway one way of ignoring the weather is to get crafty and I have another of the cards from last weeks order to show you.
I`ve unashamedly CASED THIS  card by Kim. I fell in love with her card as soon as I saw it and I knew that I wanted to adapt it for a birthday.

I used my MS Doily punch for the edge and some pink flat back pearls,
The roses are from my stash and the sentiment is PC generated and cut out with a nestie rectangle.
This is such a simple card and yet so effective. Thank you Kim.

Simply Less is More # 110

Happy Mothers Day to all you Mums in the uk. I hope you are all getting spoilt rotten. I have flowers and choccies and all my family will be here this afternoon so I`m one happy bunny :-))

The challenge this week at Simply Less is More is a One Layer Card with Spots AND Stripes on it.
Funnily enough it didn`t make me come out in a cold sweat this time. I thought about my Circles stamp set straight away. Unfortunately I`ve forgotten who makes them, I`m sure someone will let me know.

Simply stamped in Versacolor Orange, Orchid and Lime.
The sentiment is Papertrey Communique Curves set.
This must be one of the quickest cards I`ve ever made.

Just as I was about to fall asleep last night, this idea popped into my head.
Using my Microsoft Greetings 2001 software I drew the stripes in a bright Cerise then downloaded a sheet of Pink Petticoat paper and digitally cut out the banner.
The sentiment is from my PC and is printed in LamboHmk font.

A little note to let you all know that Callie, the girl that had her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust, has raised over £1000 up to now. I get a lump in my throat just thinking  about it. Bless her.

Thursday 7 March 2013

A not so shabby, chic(ish) patriotic card.

Good afternoon all!
I hope I find you well. One of the cards I was asked to make by my daughters friend was one for her daughters 17th birthday.
I really struggled with this one as at 17 they are usually to cool for cutsie cards but so not ready for bunches of flowers. So after much browsing on the web and nosying at other peoples creations I decided on this card.
I wasn`t even sure I could pull it off as my measuring skills are pretty rubbish but I thought I`d give it a go and I`m so glad I did. This is, in my opinion, one of the best cards I have ever made. Not that I`m blowing my own trumpet as regular readers will know I`m rarely that happy with the finished result. Let me know what you think.

Most of the papers are snippets from Papermania Blueberry Hill.
The heart is cutout with a Sizzix die and surrounded with clear gems for some bling.
The `17` is from Poundland.
The flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and the butterfly is punched with a MS punch.

As most of the papers are snippets, I`m entering this one into Pixies Crafty Snippets Challenge # 62

Golden Anniversary

Good Evening all.
I hope I find you well. I`ve been busy this last week or so with an order from a friend of my daughters. We met at the Macmillan Coffee Morning where I was selling cards to raise funds and she asked me to make a couple of cards for her daughter.
Apparently the family were so pleased ( insert huge grin and big head here) that I was asked to make 8 cards for various family members, one of them being a Golden Wedding Annivesary card. After a few false starts and much web browsing, this is what I came up with.

It looks a bit odd the way the ribbon has fallen but I`ve tweaked it since and it`s much better.
I started off with an a4 sheet of cream pearlised card which I printed the sentiment onto from the pc. As soon as it came out of the printer I poured Detail Gold Embossing Powder onto it. I`ve seen it done before but never tried it myself so I was quite chuffed the way it came out.
I cut a square of white pearlised card with a watered silk effect on it and used it to mat another square of the cream card.
I used two pieces of cream ribbon, crossed at the top of the panel and adhered lightly so I could line them up with the hearts.
The hearts were cut out with a Sizzix die in the cream and white card with the white one laying flat and the cream raised with foam pads.
I added some clear gems to the ribbon and the hearts and added the bow.

I`ll be back later in the week with another card from the selection. I haven`t passed them on yet but I know they don`t look at the blog so I`m sure I`m safe lol.

Simply Less is More # 109

Afternoon All!

And I`m back to posting on a sunday ... that didn`t last long did it?

We have a fabulous colour challenge this week at Simply Less is More,

Not only are the colours gorgeous but those donuts look delicious, mmmm.

I made a really quick card with no stamping at all but I`m rather pleased with it. In fact I was so pleased I made another one in different colours.

This first one is my entry for Less is More.
I used cream card ( 6x6) and printed the Mum on the computer.
I cut the hearts out with a Sizzix die and placed them using foam pads
The DP are from various pads but mainly Papermania.
This one is done the same as the first but with a white card base and different DP.

So that`s my Mothers day cards sorted, just got 2 left from last weeks order to finish off and I`m done for now.
