Sun Shades Needed...

Hi All!
...no for for the sunshine, beautiful though it is, but for my card. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

On the BBC Breakfast news on, I think last thursday, they did an article about wedding cakes. As soon as I saw this one (left) a little seed was planted in my mind.
I was sure I had bought some really bright paper years ago and put it away thinking I`d probably never use it and sure enough there it was gathering dust at the bottom of a drawer.
It was one of those moments (they don`t happen to me very often) when you can`t get an idea out of your head and I spent a lot of time when I should have been concentrating on work, thinking about how I was going to put these colours together.
Well here is the finished card.
Not everyones cup of tea I`m sure but actually I quite like it.

Apologies for the piccy of the cake but I couldn`t find a photo, only a video on the BBC website so helpful daughter Angie took a photo of my computer with her phone.
What would we do without technology eh?

Thats it from me for now, just popped in to show off lol.

Less is More #60 Recipe

Hi All!.
Wow, it`s still saturday and I`m here with my entry for this weeks Less is More Challenge, were Mandi and Chrissie want us to Take Three Challenges.By that they mean to combine 3 of the challenges set by them over the last 59 weeks.
As I`m still madly making cards for fundraising I thought I`d use this opportunity to make some quick, simple but affective cards to sell.
For my first card I used,
Week 1   Pink, Black and White
Week 15 Embossing
Week43 A Bit of Bling

I scored the pattern onto my card base using my score board, (not as difficult as I`d thought it would be), then stamped the frame from Waltzing Mouse Vintage Labels 4 in Orchid
Versacolor.
The sentiment is from Layers of Color (Birthday) and Waltzing Mouse Say it Loud Winter Holiday (wishes) Stamped in Versafine Onyx. I cut this out with a labels 4 nestie.
One the label was placed I simply adhered some tiny pink gems to the where the lines crossed.

My second card is almost identical except this time I`ve used,
Week 49  Predominatley Purple
Week 25  Button or ribbon (ribbon)

The hardest part was trying to take a decent piccy.
We have beautiful weather here today but for the life of me I can`t get a good photo and all the tweeking with brightness and contrast hasn`t helped much either. Sorry.

We are trying to sort a date out for Angie to shave her head for the fundraising so as soon as we get this sorted I`ll let you all know.
Ruby got the date for her operation through today, 10th April so not too long now. Unfortunately that is her elder sister Charlottes 16th birthday, so it could have been better but Charlotte is old enough and sensible enough to realise that having her birthday a day early is a bit of a bonus.
It`s sometimes hard to believe how poorly Ruby is.Last night while I was on the phone to Cheryl, Ruby was mimicking her  and giggling her head off. Then she decided to get her toy piano out and plonked away whilst singing " Para para paradise" at the top of her voice. At least she`s got her grandma`s good taste in music. Chris Martin, eat your heart out!

Less is More #59

Happy Mother`s Day to all you Mums in the UK!
I hope you`re being spoilt rotten. I got some lovely craft goodies from mine and some flowers too. Can`t be bad!

This week at Less is More the challenge is MASKING. Easy peasy one, if your mojo is working to full capacity.
Not sure if mine is today lol.
Really not keen on this one. In fact I nearly didn`t post it, it just seems a bit...blah!
I`ve used Flourishes Zinnia stamp set and used the single flower. I stamped the orange one then made a mask and stamped the other two over it. Coloured them with markers and added a Flourishes Tag Lines sentiment.
This one I like much better.
I used Flourishes Gerbera daisy set which includes the butterfly.
I stamped the butterfly first, made a mask with a post it and then stamped the flowers off the edge.
Coloured with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir pens. The sentiment is also by Flourishes.
I`ve tried to keep both cards CaS but I`m not sure, with the panel, that I`ve left enough `white space` but I quite like this design.
I`m never quite sure what colour the middles are supposed to be, the ones in supermarkets are dyed I know and I think they should maybe have yellow middles ( I`ll have to Google them ).

Last week I was very lucky to be chosen as the February winner at Less is More. Unfortunately Craftroom, who donated the prize are closing the business at the end of the month so stocks were pretty low. Luckily for me though, everything left was half price so I got twice as much.I feel a bit guilty saying woohoo because it`s always sad when a business closes but I`m really chuffed with my prize.
Two paper packs, two ink pads and a stamp set, how good is that? Thank you so much Chrissie and Mandi and ofcourse Julia at Craftroom.

Right gotta go I`m expecting my eldest daughter anytime with Charlotte, Nathan and ofcourse Ruby.

A Birthday Card

Hello All!
A really quick post from me today as I`ve got some sort of bug. I feel much better today than I did yesterday but still a bit fuzzy headed and achy.
Last wednesday it was a work colleagues birthday. I didn`t find out until  tuesday so it was a bit of a rush job and then I had to be devious and ask in a very roundabout sort of way, what her favourite colour was. I think you`ll guess the answer to this when you see the card I made lol.

Not the most imaginative card I`ve ever made but Billie was pleased with it.
I used a Damask EF from Crafts too matted onto some red card leaving a very thin border.
The flowers are made from the same red card cut out with a scalloped circle nestie and some red brads.
The sentiment is computer generated cut out with a labels 4 die and matted onto another die cut.

We had a bit of scare with Ruby over the weekend. Nothing too serious but when the results of her last blood test came back, her red cell count was low so it was touch and go whether or not they could go ahead with this weeks chemo. Another blood test on monday showed all was well so the chemo went ahead. Apart from that Ruby is fine. Her hair is almost gone now but doesn`t seem to be bothering her at all.
I`ve got an easter bonnet to decorate for her for when the weather gets warmer so that should keep both of us amused lol.

Less is More #58 One Layer...Script

Happy Sunday Afternoon All!
The weather here is positively springlike. Warm and sunny, the washings gently wafting in the breeze, what more could a girl want? Well lots actually but getting the laundry dry outside will do for now lol. Simple pleasures!

Got lots to get through today but I`ll try to keep it short and sweet.
First off, I`d like to say a huge welcome to my new followers, Darnell,Kym Lainey and Olelly. Thank you for choosing my little blog to follow.
Then I`d like to thank Mandi and Chrissie for picking me as the february winner on Less is More. I am chuffed to bits and still walking around with a big grin on my face. Also a thanks for the mention of Ruby on the site.
Speaking of Ruby, she is still coping really well with the chemo. She had her second lot on Monday and was a bit whiney (?) and clingy on Tuesday but by wednesday was back to her normal self. I just hope the tumour is responding as well as she is.
Last weekend she wanted to feed the ducks so Mum and Dad took her to the park.
She has to be careful as ducks and birds carry a lot of bacteria but Ruby was quite happy feeding them over the fence.
I also want to say a massive
                        Thank You
to you all, not only for the fantastically generous donations to the Candlelighters appeal but for all your lovely comments, the good wishes and support,  they really mean the world to us.
You really are THE BEST.

Right after all that waffle, I`d better show you some cards hadn`t I?
Mandi and Chrissie want, not only a one layer card but with script this week at Less is More.
Now one layer cards don`t hold the terror that they once did with me but I did have a scratching the head moment with the script.
Apart from some Christmas stamps I only have one small script stamp so I`ve gone with that one for my first card.
The tulip is a digi stamp from, I think, Fred She Said, printed straight onto the card and then onto copy paper to make a mask. The script stamp is by My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus set stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. The tulip is coloured with Promarkers and my new Spectrum Noir pens ( brilliant).
I was quite happy with this one until I stamped the sentiment (Flourishes Tag Lines) and I think I put too much pressure on.

My second card is really very simple.

The stamp is by The Stampman, Aspects of Design 1 Floral set which I`ve had for years. I stamped it in Versafine Black and heat embossed in clear EP. Coloured with markers and thats it.
Not sure if the Chinese symbols are classed as script though.
I`m sure Mandi and Chrissie will let me know.

Well if your still here after all that...Well done and thank you lol

Less is More #57

Hello All!
A proper miserable and very wet March day today. Mind you after the mild winter we really do need the rain (honestly) and what better excuse for staying in and crafting.
It`s week 57 at Simply Less is More, and as it`s the first challenge of the month, it`s a colour challenge. This week we are to use, NEUTRALS.
We are in the (very slow) process of changing our home decor from totally neutral and adding a bit of colour so I`m heartily sick of beiges and browns but hey ho this is a card...it`s different.
Unfortunately I needed a sympathy card this weekend, my daughter in laws grandma died suddenly on thursday, so I`m using the challenge for a card to send to the family.
I made two, similar cards and can`t decide which one to send. I might let you make my mind up for me.
I used Pink Petticoats Harlequin in Smoke, cropped and printed directly onto the card and added a computer generated sentiment.
The stamp is hero Arts Elegant Weeds stamped inVersafine Onyx black.
The base card is slightly off white.
The second card uses the same elements but the PP Harlequin is in Mocha and the stamp is inked in Whispers Chestnut. The base card is Ivory Hammered from The Papermill.

A quick Ruby update,
Ruby had a blood transfusion last monday as she is very aneamic (probably spelt wrong) but it is nothing to worry about, and she came home on Tuesday. She`s coping brilliantly with the chemo at the moment and is back to her cheeky self and is getting spoiled rotten. Yesterday her Mum& Dad took her to the park to feed the ducks and she had a great time just being out in the fresh air.
At the moment she`s doing everything the doctors predicted but she has another dose of chemo tomorrow, this time with more drugs added and we have been warned that that`s probably when her hair is likely to start falling out. Luckily I think she`s too young to let it bother her too much.
My middle one Angie, was always the tom boy of the family and often got mistaken for a boy when she was younger, still does come to think of it sometimes lol. I used to call her my inbetweenie.
With that in mind, and because she`s not at all bothered what anyone else thinks, Angie is organising a sponsored head shave to raise funds for the Candlelighters appeal. Photographs will be posted.

St Lukes Charity Card Challenge...March.

Hello All,
The snowdrops and crocuses are blooming, the daffs are about to burst and if this weeks weather is anything to go by, then spring is most definitely in the air. So it is very apt that the title of this months challenge at St Lukes Charity Card Challenge is,
                                               Spring into Spring
Anything to do with spring, flowers, animals or simply fresh spring colours.
I`ve chosen spring colours for my card, hope you like it.
  Apologies for the rubbish photo.
My image is a digi stamp from Wee Stamps coloured with promarkers. She`s cut out with a Spellbinders nestie circle and layered onto a pink scalloped circle and then onto a doily.
The rose DP is Pink Petticoat and the little strip of green and pink is Papermania Summer Bloom with a piece of lace laid over the top with ribbon slotted through.
I`ve added some pretty flowers to finish.
We have a fantastic prize for our outright March winner too, this fabulous stamp set from Waltzing Mouse and a copy of PaperCrafts US. How cool is that?

Don`t forget you have a whole month to submit entries and if you wish to you can donate your card or any others for this worthwhile cause. The address to send them to is in the sidebar of the main blog.

Massive apologies to those of you I didn`t get around to commenting on in last months challenge but we have had a rather stressful couple of weeks. I promise to get my finger out this month lol.
